Christian Holiday
Today, on Good Friday, we pause to reflect on the profound sacrifice of Jesus Christ—His crucifixion on the cross, an act of ultimate love that forever changed the course of humanity.  This day, though marked by sorrow, is called “Good” because it signifies the incredible gift of redemption that Jesus secured for us through His suffering and death.
The events of Good Friday, as recounted in the Gospels, are both heart-wrenching and awe-inspiring. Jesus, the sinless Son of God, endured betrayal, mockery, and unimaginable pain as He was nailed to the cross. He bore the weight of our sins, taking upon Himself the punishment we deserved, so that we might be reconciled to God. As He cried out, “It is finished,” the veil of separation between God and humanity was torn, opening the way for us to experience forgiveness and eternal life.
This day invites us into a space of solemn reflection. It’s a time to meditate on the depth of Jesus’ love—a love so great that He willingly laid down His life for us. It’s also a moment to examine our own hearts, to repent of our shortcomings, and to seek the grace that flows from the cross. Good Friday reminds us that even in the darkest moments, God’s redemptive plan is at work, leading us toward the hope of Easter.
Many of us will gather today for services of prayer and remembrance, perhaps participating in traditions like the Stations of the Cross or a Tenebrae service, where candles are extinguished to symbolize the darkness of Christ’s death. These practices help us enter into the weight of this day, but they also point us forward to the promise of resurrection.
As we contemplate the cross, let’s hold fast to the truth that Good Friday is not the end of the story. The same love that led Jesus to the cross will lead Him to rise again, conquering death and offering us new life. For now, though, we sit in the stillness of this sacred day, giving thanks for the Savior who gave everything for us.
Join us tonight for a special Good Friday service as we honor Jesus’ sacrifice together. How does Good Friday speak to your heart? Share your reflections in the comments below. #GoodFriday #HolyWeek
